Our Speech Coaches are ready to help you practice and prepare for class discussions, presentations, comps talks, and any other public speaking opportunities you may have! To meet with an ASC Speech Coach, log into the Writing Center’s appointment system and schedule a meeting with any consultant identified as a “Speech Coach.”
Speech coaches can also support you with:
- drafting, organizing, and revising a script
- tailoring your content for a particular audience
- effectively using Google Slides, PowerPoint, Keynote, Canva, etc.
- body language and eye contact
- persuasive impact
- filler words (like um/uh and like) and fidgeting that could detract from your presentation

Hello! My name is Ammy Lin (she/her), and I’m a senior Chinese and mathematics major with a music performance minor from Baxter, MN. Outside of being a speech coach, I also work as a writing consultant, Math Skills Center tutor, grader, and loan services assistant at the Libe. In my free time, I enjoy reading, spending time outside, and hearing about what makes people tick.
